Pro licence & updates
Installing Pro, activation, moving sites, renewal, and how updates arrive.
Pro installs in the free plugin's place and keeps every test, result and setting. Enter your licence key on its licence screen. Activation sends the key and your site's root domain to Dodo Payments' licence API, where the domain is only the label on that activation; each WordPress install you activate uses one activation. Once the update server is live, Pro updates arrive in the normal WordPress Updates screen.
1. Installing Pro
Pro is a complete version of the plugin: everything the free plugin does, plus Pro's features. It lives in the same plugin folder, does not need the free plugin and never runs beside it. Under Plugins → Add Plugin → Upload Plugin, upload the Pro zip and choose Replace current with uploaded. WordPress puts Pro in the free plugin's place, still active, with no activation step: every test, result and setting carries over, running tests keep running, and visitors keep the version they were shown. Going back to the free plugin the same way deletes nothing: what only Pro uses stays stored, unused, and comes back as it was when Pro is installed again.
2. Activating a licence
Then enter your licence key on Pro's licence screen. Activation sends the key and your site's root domain to Dodo Payments' licence API; the daily re-check and deactivation send the key and the activation id. Every WordPress install that activates the key uses one activation, including a staging or www copy of the same site: the root domain is sent only as the label that names the activation in your list. To move a licence, deactivate it on the old site and activate on the new one.
3. How updates arrive
Once the update server is live, Pro updates appear in your normal WordPress Updates screen and install with one click while your licence is active. The first release ships with no update server configured, so until one is set Pro makes no update calls and a new version is installed from its zip. Once checks are on, a successful check is cached for six hours, and retried every 30 minutes while the update server is unreachable. Each check sends the plugin slug and the installed Pro version, your licence key, activation id, root domain, an anonymous site id and your PHP and WordPress versions. The free plugin updates from wordpress.org as usual and never contacts improveab.com, and WordPress never offers it as an update over Pro.
4. Renewal and lapse
A licence is annual and includes updates and email support. If it lapses, Pro stays installed and nothing is deleted: every test keeps every setting, AI styling and custom CSS included, running tests keep running, and you can still create, run and copy tests without limits, because the plugin has none: a copy keeps its source's split and audience, and a brand-new test gets an even split and the default audience. Custom CSS stays available too. What stops, once the licence server confirms the licence has ended (a server that cannot be reached never counts), is what needs the licence: scheduled starts and stops, automatic winners, alerts and the digest, webhooks, the AI tools, new role grants, and setting an audience or an uneven split; the results page shows the free analysis instead of confidence, probability to beat and the uplift interval. Your Pro settings stay stored and come back in force when you renew.

Common questions
How do I move from the free plugin to Pro? Do I keep my tests?
Yes, everything stays. Pro is a complete version of the plugin that lives in the same plugin folder: under Plugins › Add Plugin › Upload Plugin, upload the Pro zip and choose “Replace current with uploaded”. Every test, result and setting carries over and running tests keep running; then enter the licence key. Going back to the free plugin the same way deletes nothing either: what only Pro uses stays stored for when Pro comes back.
Can I move a licence to another site?
Yes. Deactivate it on the old site and activate it on the new one. Each install you activate uses one activation, so deactivate a staging copy when you are done with it.
What happens when the licence lapses?
Pro stays installed and nothing is deleted. Every test keeps every setting, AI styling and custom CSS included, running tests keep running, and you can still create, run and copy tests without limits, because the plugin has none: a copy keeps its source's split and audience, and a brand-new test gets an even split and the default audience.
Does the free plugin contact improveab.com?
